Many people want to be voluntarily involved in supporting and helping asylum seekers, refugees and immigrants so that they can integrate into the new environment.

In activities promoting integration, the desired objectives can be best achieved when the authorities and organisations regard the promotion of integration as a joint task. Cooperation is based on equal partnership, investment in development work, shared planning forums and resources for operations.

PALOMA training provides students and people meeting refugees as part of their work with practical information on the mental health and wellbeing of refugees. The training comprises 16 videos and a task package. In the videos, experts describe phenomena related to refugeeism.

Organisations play an important role in the promotion of immigrant integration, from tasks related to early-stage housing arrangements to language clubs and various leisure activities. The activities are partially on a voluntary basis, but many organisations also employ experienced professionals.

The Integration 2026 event focuses on the current themes in immigrant integration and refugee reception.

10.12.2025 | The planning for the Integration 2026 event has begun. We are now opening applications for the event's programme planning group. The planning group will compile the programme based on programme proposals and ideas. Integration 2026 will be held on October 28–29, 2026 at the Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport Congress Center in Vantaa.

1.9.2021 | The online service maintained by the Centre of Expertise in Immigrant Integration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has been updated. The old kotouttaminen.fi website was disabled and the actual version of the kotoutuminen.fi website was released on Wednesday 1 September 2021. As a result, only kotoutuminen.fi website will be available to users.

2.12.2021 | The Partnership platform is an interactive, digital and communal platform for operators, experts, stakeholders and networks involved in integration, immigration and reception of refugees. 8.6.2021 | The website maintained by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment’s Centre of Expertise in Immigrant Integration has undergone a redesign. At the same time, the Finnish name of the website has changed to kotoutuminen.fi. In connection with the redesign, the visual image of the centre of expertise was also revised.
