5.3.2025 | The Development and Administrative Services Centre (KEHA Centre) has published new instructions on the reimbursement of costs under the Act on the Promotion of Immigrant Integration (681/2023) to municipalities, wellbeing services counties and Åland’s public healthcare services (Ålands hälso- och sjukvård, ÅSH). The instructions are available on the kotoutuminen.fi website.

According to the Administrative Procedure Act, the authorities must provide interpretation or translation in cases where the immigrant (or another party) is not proficient in the Finnish or Swedish languages used by the authorities, or the person cannot be understood owing to his or her disability or illness in a case that may be initiated by the authorities.

When an unaccompanied minor or young person seeking asylum is separated from their family, relatives or other network, they will need a wide range of support in their new country of residence. In order for a child or young person living in a family group home to access services, close cooperation between the family group home, the municipality's social welfare and health services, educational services and, if necessary, child welfare authorities are required.
