22.4.2026 | In March, the number of foreign unemployed job seekers increased by 1.7% from the previous year. The economic downturn explains the increase in the number of unemployed people in the short term (2023–2025). In the long term, the growth is explained by the growth in the foreign workforce in Finland. 

24.3.2026 | The number of men among the foreign unemployed decreased by 1.9% compared to the previous year. On the other hand, the share of women increased by 3.0%. The number of unemployed jobseekers increased in February 2026 compared to the previous year. The increase was significantly more moderate among foreign unemployed jobseekers (0.5%) than among Finnish unemployed jobseekers (7.7%).

3.3.2026 | The number of foreign unemployed jobseekers decreased for the first time since 2022. According to the Employment Bulletin based on the data from January, 14.3% of all unemployed jobseekers were foreign unemployed jobseekers.

20.8.2024 | There were 49,543 unemployed foreign jobseekers in Finland at the end of July. This is the highest number of unemployed foreign jobseekers ever recorded. In addition to the lacklustre economy, the increase in foreign labour explains this growth.

4.8.2026 | The President of the Republic has approved the amendments to the Act on the Promotion of Immigrant Integration and related acts. The amendments will enter into force on 1 January 2027. They are part of the integration services reform which will affect the services provided in the early stages of integration and the organisation of these services.

12.6.2026 | The EU's new Pact on Migration and Asylum will enter into force in all EU Member States on 12 June 2026. Amendments to the Aliens Act and the Reception Act will enter into force at the same time.

15.8.2024 | In June, there were 46,709 unemployed foreign jobseekers, which accounts for 16 per cent of all unemployed jobseekers. The number of first integration plans fell from the first quarter of 2024. This drop may be due to seasonal variation as, of all quarters, the least number of first integration plans are usually drawn up in the second quarter of the year.
