Regional State Administrative Agencies (AVIs) are responsible for the planning, steering and supervision of measures and services that promote and support immigrant integration in matters that are within their remit.

Partnership barometer is a survey that collects information on the current state and development needs of work that promotes integration and receptiveness of society, focusing on multisectorality and cooperation.

The Integration Indicators database is an open statistics database based on register and survey data. It is used to monitor the state and development of integration in Finland. The indicators are divided into five themes: employment, education, wellbeing, participation and two-way integration.

The idea of two-way integration is included in the common basic principles of the integration policy of the European Union. The basic principles define integration as a dynamic two-way process of mutual adaptation in which all immigrants and residents of the Member States participate. Society changes as the population diversifies and immigrants acquire the necessary knowledge and skills needed in society.

4.3.2022 | For the first time ever, the European Union (EU) has activated the Temporary Protection Directive to help people fleeing from Ukraine. The decision is expected to enter into force on 4 March or in the following days. The Government will soon decide the category of people to be granted protection in Finland. 30.8.2024 | The Government’s action plan published in June includes 30 actions that support the employment of Ukrainians. Communication in Ukrainians’ native language is increased and their transition to municipalities is supported. The action plan is now also available in English for example EU-level comparison and other research.

20.8.2024 | There were 49,543 unemployed foreign jobseekers in Finland at the end of July. This is the highest number of unemployed foreign jobseekers ever recorded. In addition to the lacklustre economy, the increase in foreign labour explains this growth.

15.8.2024 | In June, there were 46,709 unemployed foreign jobseekers, which accounts for 16 per cent of all unemployed jobseekers. The number of first integration plans fell from the first quarter of 2024. This drop may be due to seasonal variation as, of all quarters, the least number of first integration plans are usually drawn up in the second quarter of the year.
