The aim of the At Home in Finland project was to develop services and processes supporting immigrant integration. The project had two mutually supportive sub-projects: Good Start and Good Path.

23.9.2026 | Anmälan till Integration 2026 för distansdeltagare och ansökan till närevenemanget avslutades måndagen den 14 september 2026. Evenemangsorganisationen har nu gått igenom ansökningarna till närevenemanget. De sökande har per e-post fått besked om rätt att delta i olika delar av närevenemanget eller om en plats i kön.

23.9.2026 | Registration for remote participation in the Integration 2026 event and application for in-person attendance at the event ended on Monday 14 September 2026. The event organisation has now reviewed the applications for in-person attendance. Information on the applicant’s right to participate in different parts of the in-person event or their position on the waiting list has been sent to them by email. 

The idea of two-way integration is included in the common basic principles of the integration policy of the European Union. The basic principles define integration as a dynamic two-way process of mutual adaptation in which all immigrants and residents of the Member States participate. Society changes as the population diversifies and immigrants acquire the necessary knowledge and skills needed in society.

Some refugees need resettlement because they have left their region of residence or their home country for another country or region where they are unable to stay.

Some of the children and young people seeking asylum arrive in Finland unaccompanied by a custodian. Unaccompanied minors seeking asylum in Finland are placed in group homes or supported housing units for the duration of the asylum application process.

The authority responsible for drawing up the integration plan shall monitor the implementation of the integration plan in accordance with the Immigration Act. The drawing up of the integration plan is an evolving process and the plan must be updated as necessary to correspond to the conditions or goals that have changed.

Tanken om dubbelriktad integration ingår i de gemensamma grundläggande principerna för Europeiska unionens integrationspolitik. Grundprinciperna definierar integrationen som en dynamisk, dubbelriktad process för ömsesidig anpassning som involverar medlemsstaternas samtliga invandrare och invånare.

Myndigheten som ansvarar för utarbetandet av integrationsplanen ska följa upp förverkligandet av integrationsplanen i enlighet med integrationslagen. Utarbetandet av en integrationsplan är en process som kompletteras, och planen ska vid behov uppdateras för att motsvara förändrade omständigheter eller mål.

The action plan for referral of refugees to municipalities and integration support drawn up by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment eases the process of assigning refugees to municipalities and supports the organisation of reception and early-stage integration services. The action plan promotes the inclusion of refugees and the receptiveness of society.

6.7.2026 | Reformen av integrationstjänsterna 2027 som framskrider under ledning av arbets- och näringsministeriet går från beredning till verkställande. UF-centret stöder den riksomfattande beredningen och verkställandet av reformen genom att samla integrationsaktörerna till gemensamma evenemang, utbildningar och webbinarier som behandlar bl.a. ändringar i integrationslagen, ordnande av tjänster, finansiering samt aktörernas ansvar.

Att ta emot flyktingar förutsätter ett sektorsövergripande samarbete. Kommunen bör samarbeta tätt med i synnerhet välfärdsområdet för att kunna säkerställa en smidig process för att ta emot flyktingar och för att kommunens och välfärdsområdets tjänster ska vara kompatibla. Samarbetet syftar till att garantera en person som anländer till kommunen alla de tjänster hen behöver och stödja kommunen och välfärdsområdet i beredskapen att ta emot flyktingar.

9.4.2026 | Under våren har man intensivt planerat programmet för evenemanget Integration 2026 som ordnas i Vanda på hösten. Programmet har planerats i en programplaneringsgrupp och baserar sig på den öppna idéinsamlingen som ordnades för programinnehållet och workshopen om programplanering som hölls i december. Evenemangsorganisationen för Integration 2026 tackar alla som hittills deltagit i planeringen av programmet. 

9.4.2026 | The Integration 2026 event will be held in Vantaa this autumn, and its programme planning group has been working hard throughout the spring. The event’s programme planning is based on a previous open call for programme ideas and on the programme planning workshop held in December. The Integration 2026 event organisation would like to thank all who have already participated in the programme planning process.
